If you are looking for a seriously powerful laptop with a smart look and rugged build then the W510 is a must-see.

 

Although remarkably light it boasts an array of input ports including 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB-eSATA-combo, 1 IEEE 1394 FireWire, a 5-in-1 Media Card Reader and Express Card Slot.

 

Then you have the usual - 56k modem, gigabit LAN and an Advanced-N wireless adaptor. It also has 3G capabilities - the SIM card slot being found underneath the battery.

 

As per usual for a Thinkpad the W510 takes a 2.5" SATA hard disk drive if you need to upgrade the 320GB drive. The HDD is easily accessible underneath the laptop, only one screw needs to be removed.

 

The maximum RAM the board will take is a massive 16GB although you will need to use a 64-bit operating system to see this much RAM being utilized.

 

For a quick RAM upgrade you can get at two of the RAM slots from underneath the laptop, remove two screws for access.

 

The W510 uses either DDR3 PC3-8500 or DDR3 PC3-10600 memory modules.

 

This a a very high-spec laptop, usually coming with quad core Intel i7 processors and a 15.6" screen.

 

Not cheap but certain a good buy when you take into account the usual good Lenovo build and warranty.
